| Position Summary: | Perth County is recruiting for the position of Facilities Summer Student to assist with and learn various maintenance activities performed within the Facilities Division. |
| Primary Responsibilities: |
- Assist with general facility maintenance on County owned buildings in accordance with O. Reg. 332/12: Building Code
- Provide grounds maintenance, including flower beds and lawn care/maintenance
- Assist with facility problem diagnosis and solutions
- Maintain County vehicle, equipment and tools in good/safe working condition
- Maintain detailed daily logs
- Performs general cleaning and maintenance duties
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and stooping
- Lift, handle and carry equipment, supplies, and materials
- Ensure that Occupational Health and Safety practices and County of Perth policies and procedures are adhered to; wear any personal protective equipment required to ensure personal safety and report any known hazards and/or incidents in the workplace to immediate Supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: |
- Class “G” driver’s license with a clean driver abstract
- Demonstrated interest in facilities management or related field
- Experience performing general cleaning, painting, maintenance (indoor and outdoor) tasks effectively and efficiently
- Experience following safety protocols and work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Excellent customer service skills
- Solid organizational and time management skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Reliable, punctual and the ability to work independently
- Working at heights and elevated work platform training is considered an asset
| Shift: | Monday to Thursday, 7:00 am to 4:30 pm and Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (44 hours per week) |
| Hourly Rate: | $18.73 |

To be eligible for summer student employment, applicants must meet the Canada Summer Jobs program requirements:

- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
